• Hey Guys and Girls,
I have designed a new layout for my blog (here) and there is a really strange problem. Get this, it works in IE6 (win) and FireFox 0.9 but not in Safari? The problem in Safari is that the blog content in the centre column gets pushed down below the longest side column. Here is a link to screen shot from Safari (here). The CSS validates and the XHTML would if I removed one line, which is not affecting the layout.
I can provide snippets of the CSS and XHTML if you want but I always think it makes messages too long and messy. The CSS is here.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated because I cannot figure this one out.
    Thanks,
    David

  • I do not know if this helps but in all three of your floated elements lmenu, content and rmenu you have fixed the width. Fine. You need to But they also have padding and margins. Hence the layout is munged. You either need to hack, alter the width dimensions or nest inside the floated divs. HTH.

Okay I am pretty new to CSS so if you could elaborate a little bit or point me towards the information that would be really helpful.

Well this might help a bit:
    Safari stacks floats incorrectly

Plus – I feel sure the math is out by 2px. As a test only why not remove the border on #rap?

OK. Now I am almost sure. Reduce the centre col by 2px. HTH.

I tried removing the border from rap and this had no effect. I am going away for a couple of days so I will have to leave this for now and I will continue bugging you when I get back.
Thanks so much for your help.
