[Resolved] s there a basic WordPress and a full featured WordPress

  • I am trying to find out if there is more than on version of WordPress. It seams like what I am currently using has some features left out. Is there a way to find out?

Well, there’s the free hosted blogs at WordPress.com and the free full self-hosted/installed version available here.

    WordPress.com and WordPress.org

    What features are you missing?

When I add a post there are only 14 items and I know in the past there were more. I have bold, Italic, del, ins etc. but some are missing. Also when under pages I used to be able to number them in a order of how I wanted them displayed on the tool bar but that is also missing.

For the editor, click the button on the very far right of the editor toolbar (it looks like three horizontal rows of tiny icons). This will display a second row of icons.

If you were expecting more, that was probably a plugin that added the extra buttons.

Ordering pages also sounds like a plugin, but you can also create and organize your own menu via Appearance/Menu in your Dashboard (requires a compatible theme).

The tiny icon that you are talking about I am missing and also I am missing the Appearance/Menu in my Dashboard. The only theme I have loaded is Twenty Ten and I know I could do the ordering of my menus with it. Thank you for the help.

What version of WordPress are you using. Appearance > Menus subpanel are supported in WP3.0 and later.

    I looked and the version I have is meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress 3.0.1

Hmmm… 14 buttons? Are you like in HTML mode of the editor? If so switch it to Visual Editor. If the Visual Editor and HTML tabs are missing (located at the upper right of the editor), go to Users > Your Profile and uncheck Disable the visual editor when writing. Then go back to the page/post editor and see if you can see them now.

That did it. Thank you for all your help
