Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » Ryte/Yoast says homepage not indexable

  • Resolved dav74

Nearly every time I go to the dashboard I have a message saying that my homepage is not indexable:

Can you please explain what is the issue here, as my home page should be indexable! After I click the button to “Fetch current status” again, it usually then confirms it is indeaxable.

I do not like this message as my busienss relies on pages being indexed! I am starting to get paranoid that your hookup with Ryte could actually make my site unindexable, through some bug in your softwares. Hopefully you can allay my fears!

The last thing business owners want is to see a message sayign there site is not able to be crawled by search engines. So if there is a bug with your or Rytes software, can you please fix it?

Sometimes Ryte can throw out false positives. We suggest testing in the Google Mobile-Friendly tool and if it renders as expected the issue is either with Ryte or your host provider. This guide explains more:

To then resolve the issue contact your host provider and confirm they are not blocking robots from crawling your site or contact Ryte. We partner with Ryte to provide a courtesy check so there may be an issue with their robot crawling your site. You can contact Ryte by sending them a support ticket here:

Thanks for the reply @pcosta88 – appreciated.

There is no issue with my hosting partner and my site is indexable according to Google. It is just that the ryte homepage analysis tool sometimes says it is not indexable. Somewhere there is a problem between your software and that of Rytes plugin.

Below a reply from Ryte. It is interesting how software developers tend to blame the other when it comes to reported problems. Maybe you can check their reply and see if that is the case?

“The warning in the Yoast plugin is probably due to the fact that the URL as it’s delivered to us by Yoast isn’t 100% correct. The issue has come up in the past when the homepage URL in Yoast is saved without the trailing slash, for example. Your root directory is always indexed with the trailing slash, so if Yoast sends us the URL without it, the test will return is as “not indexable”. You could check in your Yoast settings how your homepage URL is saved.”

    Thank you

As Ryte team said, in some cases, Ryte crawler is unable to crawl the front page and as such Yoast SEO shows a false notice while the front page is crawlable by the search engines correctly.

So, if your website front page is appearing correctly in the search results, you can simply ignore this or disable the Ryte integration in Yoast SEO plugin directly from the Yoast SEO -> General -> Features (tab).

In addition, we have also opened a bug report here Please, do feel free to add any additional information that you may thin our development team will find helpful to fix the issue.

Many thanks.I will disable Ryte in any case, as there is some issue with something. Surprised not more people have mentionned this.

Will drop development a bug report.
