Support » Localhost Installs » Russell\Blockbase Theme – Error when trying to change color scheme

  • Running a self hosted version of WordPress. Latest version (5.8.1). Downloaded Russell theme and required additional parts: BlockBase and Guttenberg. All themes and plugins are up to date.

If, after activating the Russell theme, I go to: Appearance->Customize->Colors, then pick one of the Color Schemes listed at the bottom of the page, when I press publish, I get the error:
“Looks like something’s gone wrong. Wait a couple seconds, and then try again.”

In the debug logs the following is generated:
[04-Nov-2021 23:04:40 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught TypeError: call_user_func_array(): Argument #1 ($function) must be a valid callback, non-static method GlobalStylesColorPalettes::sanitize_color_palette() cannot be called statically in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wwwMYSite\wp-includes\class-wp-hook.php:303

    Any ideas? Thanks

Total WordPress newbie, though am an IT professional. I installed all of this yesterday. Windows infrastructure. Server 2022. Installed the latest version of PHP via Windows PlatformInstaller. Downloaded latest version of WordPress direct from WP.org site. Downloaded latest version of Russell theme direct from WP site. Got everything updated correctly. The site currently has exactly 1 page on it. Was playing around with themes. Really like the Russell theme except for the error on trying to change colors.

    ADD:
This may be an issue with blockbase rather than russell.

I recommend asking at your theme’s support so the theme’s developers and support community can help you with this.
