I use GPT Chat, Dall-E and stable diffusion in separate tabs now and uninstalled this plugin, as it runs up costs like heck calling api calls to OpenAI, and i use free GPTChat and free DEall-E anmd stable diffusion is free anyway, so have no costs running up in OpenAI. BUt using this plugin all of a sudden it is using up my free 18$ every time it makes an api request.

Here is its exaggerated request info

    194 Prompts + 547 completion just for a summary!

I prefer to not use an API for a wordpress plugin, as paid GPTChat is only worth it f you have your own app, or a plugin like Meow to market and seek revenue with. But to blog on wordpress, why pay 20$ a month and api call costs? When you can open another tab in GPT Chat and create your own generated blog articles, and another tab with stable diffusion for your images. Free, This plugin makes a free OpenAI account use up all its api free startup money and approach upgrade necessity. GPT is free, so why need all these products and addons people are making, because they are not paying for it, except i suspect the costs i see in my OpenAI api usage through Meow Apps, seem a little over[priced, so i assume Meow is using our revenue somehow to pay for his/her own api call usage costs. Either way, the costs of generating content outweight the benefits. This ap is merely using free products we can access without this pharisee of a middleman who seems to be causing users to run up usage costs faster than the believable

@mastertheweb As someone who has used the plugin almost since its inception, I can tell you that you are wrong. I have kept a close eye on my expenditure through the API, and have found NO discrepancies. I think you might be overlooking the costs of the statements and only be looking at responses.

@mastertheweb given you are 1 out of almost 200 people to give this anything but a 5 star rating goes to show how you completely missed this point of this plugin.

For those concerned about costs… We are at $3.72 after developing and launching a product using AI Engine. Many beta testers and development hours. I honestly have no idea how a single user would get to $20 a month in OpenAI costs. If you are spending that much money the amount of content being generated is mind boggling and, odds are, well worth the money to the person generating the content.

The examples the reviewer left should cost approximately less than $0.01.

Hi @mastertheweb. As the developer of AI Engine, I also wanted to reply to you, because you accused me of something I didn’t do. So I would prefer to clarify this.

I use GPT Chat, Dall-E and stable diffusion in separate tabs now and uninstalled this plugin

Stable Diffusion has never be part of AI Engine; are you actually using AI Engine? I think it’s better to make sure that you are talking about my plugin first.

use free GPTChat and free DEall-E anmd stable diffusion is free anyway

They aren’t free – they have a lot of limitations in their free versions, and they will only have more and more. Using their APIs unlock the limitations and bring a lot of new possibilities. If it is not useful, why would OpenAI actually have an API? 🙂

    194 Prompts + 547 completion just for a summary!

You should learn about tokens, how they are calculated, and priced. I also recommend playing with the OpenAI Tokenizer: https://platform.openai.com/tokenizer.

    In you case:

    • Prompt: 194 tokens = ~160 words
    • Completion: 547 tokens = ~460 words

OpenAI charged you based on the total. The prompt is what you asked, and the completion is what was sent back. Nothing really surprising, though it looks like a text was generated, rather than summarized.

Based on the OpenAI pricing, that request would cost you 0.001482$ when used with GPT 3.5 Turbo. To reach 18$, you would need to run this query more than 12,000 times. Of course, you can use ChatGPT 12,000 times for free. That would take really a lot of time.

But to blog on wordpress, why pay 20$ a month and api call costs?

What did you use AI Engine for, in fact? Most people don’t use it to blog on WordPress. They use it to create advanced chatbot, ease their customer support, automate tasks, etc. It can be used to generate a lot of articles really quickly as well. I am using it on my main website (meowapps.com), and it costs me 20$ / month but a lot of visitors are talking with my chatbot.

GPT is free, so why need all these products and addons people are making

I could reply an entire book to that question; so I wish you all my best to understand all this a bit better. You might miss opportunities to optimize your work and your processes. Have a look at YouTube videos, articles, etc. There is a lot to learn and explore.

I assume Meow is using our revenue somehow to pay for his/her own api call usage costs

I was actually really shocked to read this. I am trying my best, so being told that I am stealing other people’s account is very sad for me. I hope you will realize how much a mistake this is.
