Support » Everything else WordPress » run one database or many?

  • I’m going to have about 25 blogs. I understand, from reading the “Dummies” book, that this number is probably too small to warrant using WordPressMU. I’ll probably need a separate installation for each blog.

However, after searching the archives, I can’t discern if I should run the different blogs from one, same database — or have a different database for each blog. The blogs will be affiliated with different topics in a Library that gets about 1 million users/month, so the blogs might become quite active quite quickly.

Does anyone have advice about this, or know of a resource that would be useful?

    Thanks in advance!

  • WordPress and WordPressMU will merge in version 3.0

It certainly easier to administer if the blogs were in one database but separate databases probably wouldn’t hurt–your host might also have some input on that, especially if the databases can be put on different servers.

You will also want to review WordPress Optimization
