BackWPup - WordPress Backup Plugin
Run now fails (10 posts)

I've got BackWPUp on one site (www.eurocall-languages.org) and after adding the anti-SSL plugin and tweaking the wp-config.php with the line:

    define( 'ALTERNATE_WP_CRON', true );

the manual Run Now works for all jobs, though the scheduler is still iffy.

On another site (still under wraps) I carried out the above, and clicking on Run Now just results in a nanosecond flicker and then nothing at all. No logs, no errors, no smoke coming out of the machine, no portals to hell opening. Nothing. Any suggestions as the the cause and possible fixes? I do hate errors that don't generate any messages or logs...

I'll be happy to cough up for the full version as it's a great utility, but only if I can get it reliably working on all my sites.

Waht is the message if you stating the job without the tweaks. If ther no messages go the the logs if ther some in?

Sorry for the late reply - I had a stooshie with a touchy moderator who got the hump.

I've removed the tweak from the site's wp-config.php so that it's in its original condition. If I run a job, the browser twirls for a bit then returns me to the BackWPUp dashboard, which reports:

    Next run: Not scheduled!
    Last run: not yet

The logs page states: No Logs.

No backup files appear in my Dropbox folder. Indeed, nothing happens at all - no errors, no logs.

I've copied the Settings >> Information page below.

When it works, BackWPUp is a great plugin. If I can get it working on other sites of mine I'll certainly invest in the Pro versions.

It's been a long while - sorry. I've so many sites with so many tasks, that something non-urgent like this takes a back seat.

I can't give you access to the site as my clients would be livid if they knew I'd handed out admin access to someone unknown to them, particularly after I've lectured them on security so many times. Could you perhaps suggest another solution? It must be something specific to this WordPress installation, as BackWPUp works fine on another site of mine. Do you know of any conflicts between BackWPUp and other plugins?

I've made a screen capture of the job screen after attempting to run a manual backup. As before, the log directories (main and temp) are empty, no errors appear, and there's nothing to indicate a job in progress. That's the frustrating thing, that there are no errors given.

I'll buy a Pro copy after I finish this message, then perhaps send this query in as a support ticket.

    Hello Daniel

I am having the same issue as reported above with 1 site. no log files are being created - so it is impossible to see what the issue might be. I have used debug_log, etc to no avail.

Also meant to say - I have been concentrating just for now on getting the job to run manually in order to narrow down the issue.

    Hope you can help!

Further clarification of this issue. When I look at the information tab - the "Current PHP user" field is blank. guessing that this is probably the issue...

I'm having this exact same problem on my WordPress 4.0 / BackWPup 3.1.2 site. No error message, no log file and definitely no backup. Is there any development on this particular issue?

I figured out what the problem was for me. I had transferred the WP site to a new host. Was testing BackWPup before making change in the DNS for the domain to the new host and it wouldn't run - no logs or errors.

I went ahead and changed the domain DNS to reflect the IP of the new host and see if that backup would then work. It did. I can only conclude that BackWPup requires that the DNS of the website its running on is correct.

Same here. No log file, no error, no backup. I have not changed hosts or domains.
