• Simple 301 Redirects has provided me a lot of value in the past. Thankful for all the years. But…

Now it is just a Marketing Tool for BetterLinks by WPDeveloper. I can’t blame @scottnelle and WPDeveloper for the sale (or whatever transaction happened) but the plugin is bloated with promotion for Betterlinks and worse, does not work out of the box anymore while the “Redirection” plugin does. So will have to migrate dozens of websites to an alternative. :-s

    Hi @peterarends,

We didn’t change any functionalities of Simple 301 Redirects actually. Instead, we have revamped the User Interface to provide better user experience for everyone.

Besides, you can check out the changelog and see that we have enhanced our security, fixed the reported bugs by the clients, added import/export feature, improved the overall performance of the plugin by switching to ReactJS.

We are offering the users to migrate to BetterLinks if they are interested in to get access to more advanced features but if they don’t want it, they can simply close the banner & it won’t show up again.

So, overall, this 1* review is a bit harsh to be honest. If we had removed the existing features or reduced the performance, I would have understood but not for this though.

But anyways, thank you very much for your feedback. Have a nice day!

Thanks for your response @rafinkhan, appreciate it.

I can see you side of it: you have invested time and improved the plugin, it is still free and a bit of promotion is no big deal.

The thing for me is 1] that it stopped working. And 2], you are free to do whatever you please with promotion and adding BetterLinks options for every redirect entry, etc. But I don’t like the way the WP ecosystem is going, one star not liking it.

    Hi @peterarends,

Is the Rest API blocked on your website? It can sometimes happen if you have Security Plugins and others. Or, even sometimes if you have caching plugin installed, you need to purge cache to make the redirections work.

Can you please tell me a bit more about the error you got so that I can try to give you a solution? Maybe we could have worked it out like we have for others as you can see in the support forum, if you have asked our support before leaving this review though.

Thank you for your feedback anyways.

Of course, if the plugin not working was the only issue, I would have opened a support ticket. 😉
