I’ve just installed WP 2.3.3 using Fantastico at a new VPS host. Trying to use the RSS widget on this new site. But where the feed should appear on the sidebar, there’s nothing.

I have a similar WP 2.3.3 Fantastico installation on another, shared, host, where the RSS widget is working fine.

The installations and contents of both sites are identical, apart from the fact that on the “non-working” site Fantastico has prudently set the file permissions for all files at 644, while on the “working” site the files are by default set rather less prudently at 755. Don’t ask me why, (or indeed whether that’s relevant to the issue at hand).

Does anyone know what files & folders I need to home in on to check the permissions to get the widget working? For example is there a cache directory which I need to unlock? I can’t seem to find any documentation for this widget.

    Thanks

Panic over. Don’t know how, but it fixed itself.

I wander how you solved that. My Facebook widgets are not working after I transfered the site to a new host and I just don’t know why. I get the error: An error has occurred; the feed is probably down. Try again later.
