# RSS URL question

 * My RSS link is working but here’s the “problem”. The URL is:
    feed://www.naturalfoodworks.
   net/?feed=rss2 If this is copied and pasted in to a “reader” (Yahoo for example)
   the URL “fails”. It works fine as [http://www.naturalfoodworks.net/?feed=rss2](http://www.naturalfoodworks.net/?feed=rss2)
   Is there any way to get the URL to display without the “feed://” prefix.
   Or is it to be presumed that anyone who knows how to subscribe to a feed will
   know not to copy that part of the URL?

 * EDIT: Huummm. It seems that the Yahoo reader adds an “[http://&#8221](http://&#8221);
   prefix to the URL so that it reads
    [http://feed://www.naturalfoodworks.net/?feed=rss2](http://feed://www.naturalfoodworks.net/?feed=rss2)
   which is causing the failure.

 * Where, exactly, are you getting the “feed:” bit from? I looked on your site and
   don’t see it anywhere.

 * Just delete the word “feed:” from your templates in case you have it. You’ll 
   be good to go.

 * To Otto:
    I’m “getting it” from the URL displayed in the address window of the
   web browser when you click on the “RSS” icon. Even if I just type the URL: [http://www.naturalfoodworks.net/?feed=rss2](http://www.naturalfoodworks.net/?feed=rss2)
   into a browser, it changes to feed://www.naturalfoodworks.net/?feed=rss2 as soon
   as the page loads.

    OK, that sounds easy enough. Would that be in the “wp-rss.php” file?

 * Well this is getting interesting. If I hit the RSS link with Safari, the URL 
   becomes
    feed://www.naturalfoodworks.net/?feed=rss2 If I hit it with Firefox (
   V1 or V2) (on my Mac) I get [http://www.naturalfoodworks.net/?feed=rss2](http://www.naturalfoodworks.net/?feed=rss2)
   but with an “error” :
 * “This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with 
   it. The document tree is shown below…”
 * If I hit it with Firefox V2 in windoze it works fine. So this would seem to be
   a browser related issue…no?

 * PS OK: With Firefox V2, everything works on both peecee and Mac. Safari…not good!
   Not the first time I have found Safari and WP to be, well…not too friendly (the
   WP admin panel and Safari don’t play well at all!). IE7 shows the correct URL
   but also does not seem to “see” the CSS. Can’t try it with IE9 till tomorrow 
   because I don’t have a peecee running expee (only W2K) and IE9 won’t work in 
   W2K…..

 * Don’t forget: feeds are not meant to be stared at by humans in browsers 🙂
    They
   are for feedreaders. Make sure they validate: [http://validator.w3.org/feed/](http://validator.w3.org/feed/)
   and forget them.

 * Thanx “moshu”. My only concern was that if someone copies and pastes the URL 
   shown by the browser and it’s incorrect they are just going to get an error. 
   I don’t know why Safari displays an incorrect URL for the feed…just another reason
   to “switch” I guess 😉
