• I recently built the blog http://www.spectrometer-blog.com with WP 3.8 and
    Customizr 3.15

When the installation is fresh the RSS feed works but as I develop the site, the RSS faulters and now I have “feed no longer exists”

I use the a few standard plugins like SEO all in one, Google analytics, and Visual Composer.

This seems to be a frequent problem but I have never seen a robust solution posted.

  • It seems to be linked to “rss2” (which wouldn’t exist by default, I guess.

What is it set to in Customiz’it! > Social links?

    Hi EF-

I have tried “rss”, “rss2”, “atom” and all fail.
Yes, the default is “rss” and that worked for awhile then not.

The generic advice is to deactivate plugins but I need the few plugins.

How do people using Customizr setup for a robust RSS feed?

You’re the first person to report a problem with the rss, to my knowledge. The generic advice is to deactivate the plugins in order to troubleshoot. You then switch them back on one by one to find out which is causing the problem. No one is suggesting you switch them all off permanently.

When you get lots of code — theme, plugins, functions, etc — in the same site, it’s almost inevitable that they will clash in some way (using the same function names, for example). Temporarily removing them all from the equation and adding them back in one by one is the only way to figure out what’s happening and where the problem lies.

Once you’ve worked out which plugin has a conflict, then either the theme author or the plugin author needs to adapt their code for the other. Then it’s a bit like two vehicles going down a narrow street. One has to reverse, but which one? 🙂 Alternatively, you simply use a different plugin that has the same functionality, but which is unlikely to cause the same problem.

EF- Thanks but I am far from first person to have this problem with WP.

Maybe with Customizr + WP, I don’t know.
But I have deactivated all the plug-ins and problem persists.

Maybe Nikeo can weigh in on this. I think Customizr is great, better then themes I have paid for but there is this one problem

OK, next step: do you still have the problem if you activate the twentytwelve theme?

    Thread Starter pembrokellc

    (@pembrokellc)

    EF-
Tried the twentytwelve and same issue with it: “feed no longer exists”

So it’s not a customizr issue, then, but is probably one of your plugins or your installation.

    Thread Starter pembrokellc

    (@pembrokellc)

    EF-
Yes, but I deactivated all plugin and problem persists.

Sure. What I’m saying is that it’s an issue with your installation, not with the Customizr theme.

You’ll probably get a better response if you post in the general WordPress forum, rather than in this corner of their universe 🙂

I too had this problem in Customizr. I used the Twenty Twelve theme with zero plugins and the problem still persisted. It turned out that I have a site with no posts – just Pages. As soon as I created a post, the RSS link worked.

Ooh! Thanks for that an52 🙂
