When fetching an RSS feed the number of items returned is fixed by a user set parameter and for general use this is entirely appropriate and necessary.
However when fetching custom feeds this is a limitation since the number of entries potentially returned may well exceed the usr defined limit and to seek the data you seek may take multiple requests
What is required is a parameter equivalent to the Blogger max-num parameter which will return entries up to the entered number.
Thus is you want a feed containing all the entries for January tagged horse racing (say) which potentially (or you know) contains more results than the number served up by default you could obtain it
