No, I’m not wrong, you simply don’t know what you’re talking about or looking at.

See, your screenshots are of THE BROWSER. The browser does not display the full text, but the full text is still in the feed. Use an actual FEED READER, like Google Reader, and you’ll see the full text.

WordPress puts the excerpt in the description field, and the full text in the content:encoded field. Firefox only displays the description. Everything else on the planet displays the content:encoded. This is intentional and by design. You’re not supposed to see the full text in the browser, you’re supposed to see it in a feed reader.

    Here’s your feed:
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/JobBoardEngine?format=xml

Do a View Source on that page. Look closely. See the full text? I do.

A lot of people make this mistake. And no matter how many times I explain it, people keep making the same mistake. How many times do I have to say it? When will people actually listen?

I have a problem with the content of my RSS feed not showing full text. For real. I understand Firefox ellipsizes the display of post content for the direct RSS feed. That’s fine.

I attempted to migrate my blog from wordpress.com to my own WordPress install yesterday. My blog is syndicated on several blog planets (http://planet.fedoraproject.org is one), and now only the first 50 words of each of my posts are shown on the planet. This is no good.

I’ve tried the following RSS feed urls:

    http://linuxgrrl.com/blog/feed/
    http://linuxgrrl.com/blog/feed/rss2/
    http://linuxgrrl.com/blog/feed/rss/
    http://linuxgrrl.com/blog/?feed=rss2

No dice. Same problem each time. 🙁 See:

What’s really irritating is if I wget the feed, it looks FINE. The full text is in it. I also diffed my RSS feed with another person on the planet whose full posts were showing up fully, and besides the actual post contents, all the same tags and the same general structure was there. I tried my feed in Google reader, and the entire posts display no problem. But could it really be a problem with the planet install? Other blogs with the same markup from Word Press don’t have this issue.

So, I’m at a total loss. I am running WordPress 2.8.5. Any ideas?
