Following up on Omert’s post, I have a similar need. We have an existing radio program and podcast -with RSS feed- that we would like to make available in a WP site. The RSS feed is currently auto-generated by custom coding in php/db. We would value a way to have this feed generate a new post when a new episode is released each week. I have tried different RSS feed to post plugins. They bring in the title, image, description, date, etc… but not the ability to listen to the episode within the post that is generated.

When I use the RSS import function in Powerpress it does so without any problem… and the ability to play each of the episodes within their respective posts. I realize that there are multiple factors to choose from for that one-time import, and that this is not intended to be an automated workflow, but your import functions work exactly how I need to, except that it can’t be scheduled to do it on a regular basis. That would answer my greatest need thus far as we consider what podcast plugin will best suit us.

Is there any possibility that you could build this functionality into Powerpress?

    Thanks for your consideration.

I’ve asked the Blubrry dev team to look at your post. A response will be posted here as soon as they’ve had a chance to do so.

Here’s what Blubrry’s lead developer had to say: “…we are exploring a way to integrate the wp-cli tool with PowerPress to import feeds and other settings via command line, no promises but if this works this would allow them to programmatically import a feed on a scheduled basis via cron tasks.”

    Hey there-

Wondering if there is any more word on this? Sure hope you folks can make this work. That would be a great help.

    Thanks!

    Hello @tosok,

We are still researching this, it may not be something that we have outside of a beta for a few months as we have a few other pressing updates to make in the coming month. This latest update, if you are not aware, has the new Apple Categories which will be thrust upon everyone mid August (3 weeks from now).

    Thanks,
    Angelo
