rss feed rewrite name & feedster

  • when i use the mod_rewrite feature in 1.2 beta, i notice that my feeds come out as:
    site.com/feed/rss2/
however, why this is … as i know the file names are wp-rss2.php, etc.
in fact, those seem like pretty clean filenames, no?
the reason i ask is because when subitting to feedster.com, i noticed with the rewritten urls, it didn’t go through.
i submitted the urls with the files names (wp-rss2.php) – but i am wondering if anyone has any insight on this and could tell me the benefits of having those filenames re-written to feed/rss2/ ??
    thanks
