RSS Feed Missing Formatting

    The rss feed (I’m ignoring rss2 and atom for the time being) for my site at http://www.jbwr.net/web/bp/billblog seems to be broken. When viewing the feed through google reader or Feedreader, the formatting and any images do not come through. All paragraph breaks, bulleting, blockquotes, IMGs, etc are snipped from the post leaving only the bare text.

    I’m pulling my hair out about this one. I really have no idea. Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Are you using partial feeds (the summary option)? If you want images to show, enable full text feeds.

    This is actually normal. The older RSS feed doesn’t have much support for any of that sort of thing. This is a limitation of the old RSS format itself.

    Use the RSS2 feed if you want full content. That is the default feed for WordPress. The ATOM feed also works very well.

    RSS2 feeds are also the only feeds that can do podcasts.

    @otto42: The feed is an rss2 feed.
    @iridiax: I’m using the full text option.

    I’m way past the little debug options. This problem is either HUGE or so stupid I’m going to kick myself once I figure it out.

    I just realized that the original post was incorrect. It should have said “The feed is rss2 (I’m ignoring rss and atom)…”

    bruhsam: Okay, I see the problem in your feed.

    Disable the PodPress plugin. See if that fixes it.

    Okay. That worked. Can you tell me *why* it worked?

    Dunno. PodPress must remove images from your content in feeds for some reason. Probably to make the feeds more iTunes compatible.

    That’s ok, I’ve just learned that Podpress is substantially broken in WP 2.5 and 2.6. I’m sure they’re working on it.
