  • I’m producing a podcast and after two flawless shows, my RSS feed is screwed up. The podcast episode is not coming through iTunes, Yahoo! Podcasts, etc.

In an attempt to right the ship I installed the PodPress plugin but it didn’t help.

How can I edit my RSS feed? Where do I do it? Here’s my feed:

If it was all good, then it went bad, what changed in the meantime? Add a plugin? Move hosts? Remove a plugin? Edit anything anywhere?

I don’t know what you did to your feed, but just looking at it, there’s some obvious problems.

Right after every <description>, there’s another copy of the actual post entry that’s not enclosed in anything.

Also, PodPress is doing bad things with the enclosures. The length=”12.7 MB” is just totally wrong. I’d disable PodPress entirely.

Anyway, podz is right. What else did you do to the blog recently? No matter how unrelated it may seem.

Well, I didn’t physically do anything to it. Here’s what I’ve done. I use the offline blogging tool ecto to write posts. For my podcasts, I simply copied and pasted the entries for the previous edition, changed the file name and show notes and then hit Publish. When I took this approach for the third show, that’s when I knew I must be having trouble with the feed.

The problems came before PodPress. Again, I don’t know where to find my feed in order to go in and edit it. Does this help? How should I proceed?

The feed is generated from the posts, it’s not something you can “edit”. If the feed is wrong, then there’s something wrong with the blog in general or some plugin is interfering.
