    Hi,

This is a fantastic plugin (I’ve installed 4.1.3) – am only having one problem, feeds I’m importing from a few websites have inaccurate dates when I publish them on my page.

Here’s an example of a feed I’m having problems with: http://www.continuitycentral.com/newsfeed.xml

In the above example there’s an article which was published on 30 April 2014. But when I publish the page, the feed displays the date 01 Jan 1970.

If I can get the dates fixed for these websites so the feed displays the right date, then I’ll definitely purchase the add-ons (as like to have images etc.). I did notice when I go to the “Imported feeds” area – in the table, under “Date published” it displays the date I saved the feed rather than the date the author published the article (this only happens for the error feeds).

Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Please ignore the support request above, I’ve decided to try a different approach so no longer require this plugin. Thanks

Just in case others are having the same problem – from reading other blogs it looks like if the feed is displaying the published date 1970 instead of the actual date of publish, this is down to the rss feed on the website and not the plugin. Blogs suggest contacting the owner of the webpage and let them know so they can clean up their code. This may already be known by everyone – all a bit new to me!

Indeed. Some RSS feeds either use an unusual date format or do not specify a feed at all.

Our plugin will try to automatically detect this and instead use the date the feed item was imported, to avoid leaving the feed item without a date.

The best that can be done is to contact the site master that is providing the RSS feed and inform him of this error in his feed.

Thanks Mekku, I appreciate your reply. I’ve contacted the site master that provided the RSS feed so hopefully they’ll amend. All the best.
