 * I’d like to add a widget so, if someone is reading my blog and wants to subscribe
   via RSS, they can.
 * I’m new to this — is there a widget I can use for that purpose? Something a user
   can click on to subscribe to my blog?

   for an RSS symbol a user can click on so that they can subscribe to my blog. 
   The Meta widget does not appear to have that…

 * So you’re saying to use Meta widget, and find a jpg image and make it click-able
   so someone can subscribe to my blog? Are there instructions about this? And do
   I use feedbuner as part of it?
