  • I have just edited the import-rss.php file in the wp-admin directory as directed to point to a feed. It seems to work as I’m now getting loads of posts generated automatically in the ‘Uncategorised’ category.

How do I manage this data feed in terms of making it put all posts from this particular feed in a particular category rather than just ‘Uncategorised’?

Also, how do I get it to automatically delete some of these posts when they are say 1 day old? I can see my database will grow huge otherwise unless im constantly deleteing them manually which is obviously impracticle.

  • What are you using that file for exactly ?

Well I’m trying to get a news feed posting articles on my site ( So I edited that file to get the feed loading into my site? Is that right?

    Not quite 🙂

That file is intended to import posts when you are new to WP but have posts from another system.
“Description: Imports any RSS feed (0.9, 1.0, or 2.0) and outputs the entries as an html list. Supports item limit, randomness, and having it output in format other than an html list. Now supports both UTF-8 and ISO-8859-1 feeds.

Now also supports embedding feeds right in a post using the wordpress filter! Download the lastest version today and enjoy!”

    That any better ?

Well I’ll let you know – I’ll give it a crack now. I assume I just edit the file I mentioned above back to what it was and delete the posts manually to get back where I was … ?
