  • How do I setup rss feeds within a blog entry
or in a link? I tried using the “manage links”
page in wordpress and specified a RSS URI
in the advanced section near the bottom
however when I click the link on my main page
nothing happens. I want the data referenced
by the rss object to display automagically on
my site without having to click a link.

How is this done?? I’m new to blogging
and appreciate any help … thanks!

  • I don’t know, but I’m looking to do the same thing, so I hope somebody answers you soon! Meanwhile, I’ll check out the docs and the wiki to see if there’s anything there. Already searched the forum, and found only this question!

sorry, dupe because it appeared that the post didn’t go through… but it did.

    same as above!

Well… Turns out WordPress has a generic RSS importer, but it didn’t work for me. Might for you though, so go to your blog site uri, and append wp-admin/import-rss.php This will bring up a page to get you started.

My attempt led to the following errors:

Warning: file(): URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in http://(mysite)/wp-admin/import-rss.php on line 76

Warning: file( failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in (mysite)/wp-admin/import-rss.php on line 76

Warning: implode(): Bad arguments. in (mysite)/wp-admin/import-rss.php on line 77

I don’t actually know what any of that means, but I’m trying to puzzle it out. Any help would be appreciated!

Is this what you’re looking for?
CG-PowerPack for WordPress, among other things, it contains “CG-Feedread, RSS/Atom aggregation script, for pulling from other site feeds. Ability to CSS/style sort of like WordPress so it ‘looks like your site’. UTF-8 international feed support.”

The import-rss.php script is meant to be used when moving your site over to WordPress. It will import a site’s RSS feed into your site as actual posts. It’s meant as a generic import when all other scripts don’t fit your situation.

That sure does look like what I need! Thanks macmanx! I’ll let y’all know how (if) it works!

    No problem.

P.S. Art, try a more descriptive topic title next. That’s more than likely… in fact, I’m sure that’s why no one ever read your topic (except karenjg and myself).
