Support » Plugin: Really Simple CAPTCHA » RSC Causing a Critical Error on Hosted WordPress

  • Hi all,

We’ve been using RSC for weeks and never had any issues with it. Last week, despite not making any changes whatsoever to the site, we noticed a Critical Error on our site making the entire website inaccessible. We looked into it and it looks like RSC was throwing an exception: Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function imagettftext()

Deactivating RSC seems to fix the issue, though obviously that would make all my Contact Form 7 forms redundant since they’d need the captcha input anyway.

Has anyone experienced this? I was advised by our host support to get in touch with the RSC devs for a version of the plugin that supports php 7.3. Does one exist?
