  • @essaysnark Hows it going? Just wanted to stop by and help you out, being that this ext requires you to add this to your Functions.php file of the active theme you are using? My thought would be to ask Did you update your theme recently possibly overwriting your functions.php file.

If you did have important details within you functions.php file, you can possible retrieve a backup from your hosting provider. Just tell them the case and they can possible go back and get the old file, usually within a week of the last previous update the hosting provider ran.

That would be my idea on this matter, buzz back in if you have any further details on this.

    Thanks

Hi ladypop2012 – The code is in its own plugin, and had previously been working. We’ve tested it as the only plugin enabled with PMPRo and it’s not working now. That’s why we’ve asked Jason about it. Thanks though!

OK, figured it out. We’d changed the PMPro payment setting from PayPal Express to PayPal Standard a few weeks ago to try and fix some other issues, and it resulted in this behavior with the first-last not saving. Changing the PMPro setting back to PayPal Express gets the names to save in the user meta.

So the new question for Jason: Do you know of any reason why the extra-fields extension wouldn’t work when PMPro is set to PayPal Standard?

Our actual PayPal account type is PayPal Standard.

Essaysnark, if you implemented that code a while ago, it might not have been written in a way to function with PayPal Standard.

PayPal Standard works a bit different than the other versions of PayPal. It would be best to use the register helper plugin to add those fields now: https://github.com/strangerstudios/pmpro-register-helper

Thanks a bunch, Jason, appreciate the quick response. We actually may stick with the PayPal Express setting now – the flow for customer signups on the PayPal side is waaaay better. If we need to switch back to PayPal Standard then we’ll be sure to grab that new plugin.

    Thanks again!
