Avada is excellent except when it comes to table styling which is virtually nonexistent. I thought I would give this plugin a try. I am trying to duplicate the table shown on that page.

IA created a new table with 50 rows, but then all the controls move to the bottom making them hard to use. Next I added the “A” image in the second row and then tried to merge the cells. I got an error saying I couldn’t do that in row 1. It wasn’t row 1.

Then I tried to add the same background color but couldn’t find anywhere to add a background color for a row.

    Appreciate your help.

    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

You could move the controls to the top, if they are better suited there for you. Just click on the “Table Content” heading to collapse/shrink it. Then, click on the “Table Manipulation” heading, but hold down the mouse. Then, you can drag/drop the section to above the table content.

Which merging did you try? Row (#colspan#) or column (#rowspan#) merge? Do you really need to merge the cells? From what I can see on that page, this is not necessary.
(It might also play a role if the “Table Head” checkbox is checked in the options, which might also not be necessary for that page.)

For changing background colors, you can use CSS code. For an example, see https://tablepress.org/faq/change-background-color-of-a-row/
For this kind of table, where the headings could probably move, a better approach would however be https://wordpress.org/support/topic/highlight-a-row-based-on-value/ (with a keyword that indicates a heading row).

    Regards,
    Tobias
