[Resolved] Root .htaccess File Custom Code

  • I have added php_flag magic_quotes_gpc Off into the field of CUSTOM CODE TOP: Add php.ini handler code and / or miscellaneous custom code here to disable the PHP Magic Quotes but it’s not a success. This is actually fine as I will try another solution, what worries me is the code php_flag magic_quotes_gpc Off that I’ve pasted into the field of CUSTOM CODE TOP: Add php.ini handler code and / or miscellaneous custom code here disappears after clicking the button Save WP-admin Custom Code located underneath the Root .htaccess File Custom Code fields.

I’m afraid that this might be an error and may cause system crash in the future; referring to your warning note…. “then the next time you use AutoMagic and activate BulletProof Mode for your Root folder your website WILL crash.”

Please help, thanking you in advance!

Does your Host allow you to use php_flag and php_value in your .htaccess file. Most Hosts do not allow this. If your Server type is LiteSpeed or is DSO configured then you can probably use these. Typically most Hosts require that you create a custom php.ini file to add/change/modify your Server’s PHP Configuration.

Please check with your web host to find out what the correct usage is for your particular website/Server.

Still waiting for my host’s reply on this issue.

If there’s nothing seen in the field of CUSTOM CODE TOP: Add php.ini handler code and / or miscellaneous custom code here
ONLY add valid .htaccess code below or text commented out with a pound sign #
, it means the the custom field is locked and thus nothing was saved? Discovered this message in the Bulletproof Security File Editing page Use the Lock and Unlock buttons below to Lock or Unlock your root .htaccess file for editing. Just want to confirm that the php_flag magic_quotes_gpc Off is not added to the htaccess. Please forgive my shallow knowledge on htaccess.

    Thanks!

The Custom Code text boxes/text areas are just a standard Form. You would add whatever you want in the text boxes add and save your changes. When you click the secure.htaccess AutoMagic button to create your root .htaccess Master file it will grab this Custom Code that you have saved and then add it into that Master file. When you activate root folder BulletProof Mode your secure.htaccess Master file is copied to your website root folder. If you want to check the content/code of your currently active htaccess files go to the BPS Edit/Upload/Download page and click on the tab for the .htaccess file that you want to check/view/edit.

You will find all of this help information above in the Blue Read Me help buttons in BPS.

I read the Blue Read Me help button, the step 2 says:

Click the Save Root Custom Code button to save your custom code.

But how come the codes that I’ve added in the CUSTOM CODE TOP has disappeared after saving them? The field is now blank.

Are you clicking the right button? There are 2 buttons on the Custom Code page. 1 is for saving custom code for the root .htaccess file (top 3 text areas/text boxes). 1 is for saving custom code for the wp-admin .htaccess file (bottom 2 text areas/text boxes).

All of these text areas/text boxes are stored in your database. When you save you custom code then that data will be echoed back to you. If the data is not being saved then it will not be echoed back to you.

Totally my bad, sorry… I’ve missed out the custom code button and gone straight down to the wp-admin button.

Thank you so much for guiding me!
