 * Hello, I have a dating site.
 * When the user pays the membership, he obtains a PM role which allows him to send
   messages to other members.
 * However, since his basic role does not allow him to send messages, he cannot
   send messages.
 * How to prioritize the PM role over the basic role? (I set a priority 1 to the
   base role and a priority 2 to the PM role, but it didn’t work).
 * If this is not possible, I am open to any other solution. The basic role of the
   user should be forgotten during the duration of his membership.
 * Thank you

 * Hello [@admin0478](https://wordpress.org/support/users/admin0478/) ,
 * PMPro, by default, will assign the subscriber role. This allows them to have
   the most basic access to your site (login / logout). We do not use roles to restrict
   access. Are you assigning additional roles with another plugin?
 * Can you tell me more about the plugins you are using for messaging? This will
   help us understand what we are working with here.
 * Thanks,
 * Kim W

 * Thank you for your reply.
 * I use Ultimate Member. Ultimate member creates a role for each level of pm_pro
   membership.
 * But I just checked, WordPress finally doesn’t assign the pm_pro role after purchase,
   but just assigns the membership level without classifying it as a role, although
   it is possible.

 * Hello [@admin0478](https://wordpress.org/support/users/admin0478/) ,
 * As far as roles go, our core plugin does nothing but assign the “subscription”
   role at registration. We do not alter the capabilities.
 * You can look at another plugin, like User Roles, to modify the capabilities of
   any role you are assigning. [https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/)
 * Having said this, using PMPro + Ultimate Member can result in conflicts as they’re
   using two membership plugins that shouldn’t be used together.
 * If you use the BuddyPress plugin for messaging, you will want to include our
   integration plugin. With this, you can assign access by level. [https://wordpress.org/plugins/pmpro-buddypress/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/pmpro-buddypress/)
 * I hope this is helpful in troubleshooting your issue.
