Support » Plugin: FileBird - WordPress Media Library Folders » Risk of accidentally deleting files after moving to folder

I’m using the plugin on a client’s site, and this morning they managed to delete several dozen files while organizing the media library. We were able to restore them from last night’s backup, but we wanted to figure out how it happened and it has to do with how FileBird handles dragging stuff into a folder.

Basically what the client did was bulk select items in Uncategorized and then drag them into a folder. They then continued work in Bulk Select mode, and selected more items, this time to delete. However, the moved items were still considered selected, so when they hit Delete Permanently, they accidentally deleted those items along with the ones they intended to delete.

This oddly doesn’t apply when moving items to folders (if you move something to a folder, then another item to another folder, the previous item stays where you put it), so I suspect it’s a matter of some incomplete handling of the bulk select memory.

I’m hiding the bulk delete button for now, but I’m hoping this will be patched.
