[resolved] Right Sidebar (5 posts)

I have a left and right sidebar, but I would like to keep both sides blank. But my right sidebar lists: recent posts, search by tags, archive, links, meta, site admin, and logout. These aren't clickable links they're just listed in my right side bar. Can someone help me remove this information?

    Thanks!

    hi heatherkehoe,

when no widgets are added to the sidebar, there will be a default loaded.
(that's typical wordpress style by the way).

WHY would you like to have a blank sidebar??

...an idea would be to add just a text widget and leave it blank.
but you will still have a blank widget title left then.

changing the theme files just for this is not a good idea, as you would not be update safe anymore.

making a child theme just for that would be too much effort just for such a thing..

anyway, you can just use full width layout or set responsive = disabled and then define for example a very small website width like 600px and use full width template..

what are you trying to achieve?

...really curious, i don't understand blank sidebars. :-?

Thank you so much Konrad! It worked. That being said, I do have a child theme, but I couldn't figure out how to eliminate the sidebar info, firebug only gets you so far, as a new kid to wordpress.

I'm creating a portfolio site to sell my images. Because the site is woocommerce compatible, I'm using easy rotator to load and display my images and keeping the background black other than my logo. Due to my lack of experience, and tired of trying to learn all of this in a short amount of time, I've realized it's easier to keep the sidebars and place the content slider in the center. For some reason, when I add a .php file to my child side and add a new function changing the width of a slider, it turns my site completely white. So, I've chalked it up to inexperience and I've discovered a work around... sidebars! But as an exercise in torture I may give your responsive=disabled suggestion a whirl.

    Thanks again for your help.

Sure. It's a work in progress, but here's where I'm at so far...
