Gents, I have a problem fixing this error:
“Rewrite test failed! The wp_remote_get() returns a 403 error code:Forbidden
A custom rewrite line has been inserted into your rewrite file for testing, the Test URL expected to return a JSON response (contains a name and description) The server instead replied a 403 error with the message Forbidden

You need to get in touch with your server support for a fix, the rewrite engine is either disabled for your account or their internal set-up does not allow such rewrites.”

I’m working on locahost, Linux. How do I fix this error?

    Hi,
Something on your localhost Linux ( Apache/Nginx ) is blocking the accessing of php files through rewrites. Practically the plugin adds a rewrite on you .htaccess file as following:

    RewriteRule ^rewrite_test_1616576316_8402/? /wp-content/plugins/wp-hide-security-enhancer/include/rewrite-confirm.php [L,QSA]

Further it attempts to call the –domain–/rewrite_test_1616576316_8402/ URL and expect to received the /wp-content/plugins/wp-hide-security-enhancer/include/rewrite-confirm.php response, whcih is a JSON data. If that does not happen, it means the rewrites are not working properly.

I suggest checking your Apache configuration file and any firewall you use, those might block the rewrite to run as expected.

    Thanks
