  • Hi,
Currently my WordPress site uses /cat/category-name/ for category indexes and /2010/01/post-name/ for post names.

How can I change this to follow the naming scheme of pages, in that, /categroy-name is the category index and the post is /category-name/post-name

  • Visit Settings – Permalinks and I believe the Custom structure /%category%/%postname% will do the trick.

That way the category, “recipes” and post “30-minute-meals” will look like this:

    http://yoursite.com/recipes/30-minute-meals

    Hi adammw,

TM3909 is absolutely right. But also, it sounds like your category base is set to “cat”. To get the behaviour you described for category indexes you should remove this (also by visiting Settings – Permalinks).

    Best wishes,
    Andy

P.S. If your category base is NOT set to “cat” then I guess you must have a root category called “cat”. You can correct this by going to Posts – Categories and setting Category parents to “None”.

    Best,
    Andy
