Support » Plugin: PublishPress Revisions: Submit, Moderate, Schedule and Approve Revisions » Revision Queue partially functional (WPML conflict)

  • Resolved drifio

The revision queue does not show posts (only pages) that are pending if the
WPML Multilingual CMS plugin is enabled. If I disable, then re-enable WPML Multilingual CMS, they appear, but no new posts will appear after that point.

    Hi @drifio

Sorry for the confusion there. WPML is a difficult plugin for us to support, so full compatibility is part of the Pro version:

So it’s expected that the revisions list should omit Posts (and only posts) when the WPML plugin is enabled? It’s reflecting them in the counts and filters, even, just not showing them in the revision queue AT ALL. I’m not expecting any kind of integration with WPML, just the base functionality of the revision queue.

Ok, extremely bizarre behaviour, if I submit a revision, it exists as a kind of “phantom” revision, in that it is represented on all of the filters at the top of the view (All (1) | Pending (1)) but does not appear in the list, HOWEVER, if after submitting a revision, I click the “Keep editing the revision” link, it actually DOES appear, and seems to work correctly.

I can confirm this is actually how it works for ALL post types (pages, posts, etc). If it’s known that the plugin simply doesn’t work correctly when WPML is enabled (ignoring any and all talk of integration between the two plugins – just the basic functionality that obviously works when you follow the arcane steps) and there is no intent to fix, it’d be good to know when the plugin is enabled to save myself and people in the future the trouble of working out why things are seemingly not working at random.

Further investigation: The query to pull out posts seems to be modified at some point by the WPML plugin, it joins the wp_icl_translations table to the wp_posts table based on ID, unfortunately it seems that when a revision is saved by PublishPress Revisions, the corresponding WPML database entry is not added (it’s only added when I go back to the edit page, after which point the query that loads the posts for the Revision Queue pulls back the correct posts).

Will continue to investigate and post a fix either here or on the WPML forum once a solution has been found.
