    Hello,

Thank you for developing the Broken Link Notifier plugin — it’s a very useful tool that helps keep my website healthy and error-free.

However, I’ve noticed a recurring issue that I hope can be fixed in a future update.

When the plugin detects a broken link and I fix or remove it, the dashboard correctly shows the message:

“Link is good, removing from list…”

But after reloading the page or reopening the plugin dashboard, the same link and page reappear in the broken links list. It then re-verifies the link again and gives the same output —

“Link is good, removing from list…”
yet the item never actually disappears from the list permanently.

    🔍 Expected Behavior:

Once a link is fixed and verified as good, it should be permanently removed from the list and not appear again after refreshing or rescanning. 🧩 Environment:

    • WordPress Version: 6.8.3
    • PHP Version: 8.3

This plugin is genuinely helpful, and I’d really appreciate it if this bug could be addressed in an update to make the experience smoother and more reliable.

Thanks again for your great work on this plugin!

Hi @hitzgh, thanks for the kudos.

I’m trying to replicate the issue on my end, but I’m not having any luck. Can you please explain how exactly you are fixing or removing the link? Are you using the inline “Replace Link” option under the link on the Results page? Or are you fixing the link on the page itself? Or some other way? Maybe you can walk me through it? Or better yet, if you can share a video of you doing it? I use ScreenToGif to make short “videos” into gifs that are easily shareable. If you can make a video, you can share a link here or email me at support@pluginrx.com.

EDIT: I guess I’m not understanding your scenario. The “Link is good, removing from list…” text only appears during the rescanning verification if the website that the broken link is pointing to now returns a good status code when it didn’t previously. Meaning, the link in the results has not changed.

When you change the link on a page, the verification does not recheck the page, it only rechecks the link that is still in the result. So you would fix the link on the page and then delete the result. If you don’t delete the result, it will continue to show in the results.

If you change the link using the inline “Replace Link” option on the Results page, it should only change the “WARNING” or “BROKEN” status to “REPLACED”, and then show you a message underneath that says, “The old link has been replaced. Result will be removed. Old link: http://theoldbrokenlink.com.” It will not remove the link from the page until after you reload the page.

    Ari
