I was wondering is there a repository of old versions of the plugin? If so, what last version would take it back to its prior functionality when it was awesome just a few weeks ago? I had hoped this week’s version would return things to the way they were, but search is still unfortunately useless. Thank you.

    Old versions are available here.

How is it useless? Instead of sticking to 4.0.4, I’d like to see the new version be just as awesome. Could you please tell me what’s wrong with 4.0.6? Without bug reports, I can’t make it awesome, and that’s a loss for all of us.

    Thank you for the link!

We started developing a new site about a year ago and found your plug-in after frustration with the built-in wordpress search. I was just floored at the improvement. Not only were all the correct results showing, but the most relevant were at the top. I spent about a week afterwards tweaking the settings to make it even more perfect. As a nerd who loves databases I was in heaven with the results.

We are just about to announce the site in about a month and I was looking forward to telling people about the amazing search abilities the site had. Since we will have quite a few PDFs on the site soon, we felt the next step was the pro version.

Then, ironically, the bottom fell out. Right after an update the searches went bad. It would come up with completely irrelevant results. That seems fixed with subsequent updates, I think. However, search results are never comprehensive anymore (often 1-2 results when there should be dozens) and it doesn’t seem to have any concept of the most relevant results anymore.

I have read most of the comments from people that seem to be having similar issues as I have and tried everything you said to them that related to my install. I also noted all of my settings, uninstalled the plugin and tried searching with just the basic WordPress search, which still sucked, but at least was more comprehensive than the most recent versions of Relevanssi.

That probably doesn’t help answer your question, but quite honestly as a person who doesn’t understand the intricacies of what it takes to build the backend of a good search, the old plugin was like magic to a caveman. I meant no offense by my original comment, I just really miss the magic you had created.

It’s just that I’m not really seeing where the magic went – on my end, things work pretty much as they used to. I’d love to fix things, but without bug reports, there’s going to be no progress.

Anyway, if you do end up with the premium version, I’d be happy to debug things on your site to see what’s going on and how to make the search work fantastically again.
