I tried duplicating a page with a form by copy/paste. It didn’t work and somehow the original page with form was destroyed in the process. Can I retrieve the original page from a WP-copy backup?

    Hi @stormthedog,

Thanks for reaching out! I understand you accidentally destroyed your original page while trying to duplicate it and are wondering if you can restore it from a backup.

Yes, you should be able to restore the original page using your backup. This is exactly why backups are so important.

If, for some reason, you don’t have a backup available, you can also contact your hosting provider. They often keep backups of your site and might be able to restore the page for you.

For future reference, here’s the recommended way to duplicate forms and pages in WordPress:

    • Duplicating a WPForms Form: Use the built-in Duplicate option within WPForms. Here’s our guide.
    • Duplicating a WordPress Page/Post: Follow the suggestions in this WPBeginner guide. This guide outlines several easy methods for duplicating pages and posts.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Ralden. I need to know how to retrieve the specific page from backup. I do not want to retrieve the entire site. Can you help me with that?

    Hi @stormthedog,

    Thanks for your follow-up question!

Restoring just one page from a backup can be a bit tricky, and the exact steps depend on what type of backup you have and which tools you used to create it.

Here are a couple of methods you can try, based on a helpful guide from WPBeginner.

    1. Check Your Trash: Sometimes, deleted pages aren’t actually gone, they’re just moved to the trash. In your WordPress dashboard, go to “Pages” and then click on “Trash”. If your page is there, you can simply restore it with a click of a button. After this, you could use Revisions to restore your page to a point before the issue occurred. This would be the easiest solution.
    2. Import from a Backup: If you have a full website backup, you might be able to import just the single page you need. However, this process can be a bit more technical, and the specific steps depend on your backup plugin or method. The WPBeginner guide linked above has some general instructions (Method 4), but you might need to consult the documentation for your specific backup solution.

If neither of these methods works for you, the best course of action would be to contact your hosting provider. They often have tools and expertise to help with restoring specific files or databases, and they should be able to guide you through the process.

    I hope this helps!

Ok. Thanks for that. As it happens, I have another page with a form which was similar. I installed a cloning widget and now all’s fine.
