I got this email…when I clicked the purple bar I got a login page to WP and then a blank page with https://gyanarthibooks.com/wp-admin/admin.php?wcpay………..ype=login_link (not complete link)Is I didn’t respond to the message……but I did follow the link and login….Is this a real woocommerce email or spam?? Checking WOO on my dashboard I found no reference to additional info needed. Do I need to change my login password? thanks bennett
Looking at the shared screenshot, it’s hard to definitively say whether the email you received is legitimate or spam.
However, it’s always important to be cautious with emails requesting for login details. Just curious, had you recently installed the WooPayments plugin and not completed the verification process? You can more details on setting up WooPayments from this detailed guide.
As a precautionary measure, I would recommend changing your password. Ensure to use a strong, unique password that you haven’t used elsewhere. Also, consider enabling two-factor authentication for added security.
@ckadenge… I’ve had the woopayments plugin for a long time, and several orders have gone through.. could that have happened if the verification process was not completed? And how can I tell if it is or is not? What made me curious about it being spam was hovering over the reply button did not show the URL so I didn’t trust clicking it. Re the password change? pressing the purple bar no longer requires a login, it goes right to a blank page with this in the address bar : https://gyanarthibooks.com/wp-admin/admin.php?wcpay-link-handler&type=login_link There was a login form before, but my password manager filled it in, and I don’t remember what password it was requesting I checked the woocommerce plugin and there is this extension notice I never saw before: https://snipboard.io/c0jhOA.jpg would this have generated the verification notice? do I need it?
Hope you can clarify some of this for me… I’m very confused now…. bennett

If orders are going through, then all should be working fine and no further verification is needed from your end.

It’s always good to be curious, as many malicious emails tend to mimmick official WooCommerce emails in order to gain access to your website.

I would highly recommend a change of password regardles of how the link now displays.
would this have generated the verification notice? do I need it?
This would not have generated the verification notice. This notification asks merchants to install the \Update manager if you are using any Woo extensions to receive updates easier.
I hope this information helps. Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance.
@ckadenge FYI, Don’t know of this thread is still live, but at 1:45PM EST I changed my password, and 1:55 I received another email like the one I first inquired about. I opened a case with support, referencing this thread.
Regarding the email, is it the same email or is there anything different this time?
It would be helpful if you could share more details about the Sender. Since you are using Gmail service, click the Show Original and see more details. Once you click on it a new window should open. Share a screenshot of that window with me.
Have you opened a ticket with WooPayments support? Please let us know about the progress you make with the ticket. It will be helpful to know more about this issue
Thanks again for sharing further details about the email. Looking at the screenshot, this seems a genuine email from WooCommerce.
