Is there a way to restrict certain HTMl tags from being used in posts and comments? Things like <object><div><script> etc.

The comment text box will have a string of allowed tags above it, mine is
    <b> <i> <strike>
those are the allowed tags for comments.

Thanks for the quick reply. So there is no restriction on what actual author’s can use in the way of HTML tags ?

I guess not. It’s your blog, and you should be free to add whatever tags you want to 🙂 If you have guest authors on the blog, or if it’s a community blog, you could give your guest authors guidelines as to which tags are not to be used.
    I see your point. 🙂

You could apply the KSES filter to the_content and restrict it to whatever you want.
