    Hi Tobias,
I’d like to remove access to Tabelpress for the ‘author’ use role on a WP install.

Rather than load a plugin like members to achieve this, I wonder if you might have a simple php filter snippet I could add to a child theme’s function.php file ?

    Thanks in advance
    Hugues

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

No, sorry, I don’t have a code snippet for that. Using the Role Manager component of the Members plugin is the best way for this. Not that you can deactivate and delete the Members plugin again after making this change.

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,
No need to apologise and thank you for replying so quickly, you’ve created a great plugin. Super useful.
I try and donate a small amount every time I use it on a client site,I hope you get enough people donating to support development adequately 😉

Thanks for the tip about the members plugin. I must admit that a plugin that makes an irreversible change to the database is a little scary though.

    Cheers

    Hi,

no worries, it’s by far not an “irreversible change” 🙂 The plugin instead simply offers a user interface to a feature for which there is no native user interface in WordPress.

    Dear Tobias,

I am prototyping TablePress for a new site (love it and I plan to donate!).

My only open issue is that I need to assign specific roles to specific TablePress tables in the backend for editing. (Not acceptable that all roles can update all tables).

I have installed the Member plugin as you suggested, but I cannot see any table-level permissions settings (eg: enable table 1 for role XYZ).

Appreciate your help on the exact location in Member for doing this.

    Kind Regards,
    Patrick

ps: Typo: I meant the Members plugin, rather than Member!

    Regards,
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

this is not possible using Members, but via some more fine-grained control. I already replied to your email regarding the Advanced Access Rights Extension!

    Regards,
    Tobias
