Restrict Comments to Specific Roles

  • Hello,

I would like to restrict Comments on SPECIFIC Posts, so that only users who are Registered may Comment on this post. How would I accomplish this?

I’ve downloaded the “Role Scoper” Plugin, but have no idea how I would use it for Comment related things.

  • Create a page template for these posts (preferably in a child theme) that incorporates a conditional tag

I’ve been hearing alot about these “Child Themes” but I don’t know anything about them. Looks like I’ve got some learning to do haha.

Is there any way I can allow EVERYONE to Comment, but filter the Comments so I only see “Registered Comments”

Check this page to know about child themes http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes. You will find more on google search.

It doesn’t make sense to allow all user to comment if you not going to show their comments (may arise confusion).

To get more help please clarify the term SPECIFIC Posts. Are those certain post types or just blog post. If blog posts are those specific post formats?

If those are normal posts. You can save a post meta as a flag and show the comment form accordingly. More info upon your reply 🙂

Thank you for your response. I’m not interested in filters comments for the Users. I want to be able to filter the comments myself, so that I know which ones are Registered (Only Registered Users that comment will get to participate in something I’m offering).

SPECIFIC Posts means just a blog post. No specific format, it’s just like any other post.
