    Hey,

i have a rather simpel support question:
Using latest WP version as of today (WordPress.org v5.7)

Your Plugin is basically pretty cool, want to keep on using it.

However, i got tons of “Illegal string offset ‘sfsi_…..’ in …php” errors, so I decided to reinstall.

After that, the errors are completely gone, but all our settings, which took us some hour to setup or even more … are gone!

I just tried it and threw in all the backup-data from the folder
    public_html/wp-content/plugins/ultimate-social-media-icons/…
from a date before the error after reinstalling.

Everything still works fine after that, I can use the plugin now again … BUT: The settings have not been restored by this action.

Can you guys provide me with a step by step guide on how to achieve restoring all our plugin settings please?

    Thanks!

    Thank you for your question!

Overwriting the plugin’s old files with those from the newer version via FTP/cPanel while having the plugin deactivated should keep the settings in the plugin.

    Hey, thanks for the reply.

    However, I did in fact

    1) deactivate and deinstall the plug in,
    2) reinstalled fresh and activated
    3) replaced the folder: … Public-html/wp-content/plugins/ultimate-social-media-icons (name recalled from memory, since I am not at the office, you get it)

Now, the settings are not put in and I font know how to possibly restore.

I checked our database in cpanel, and in the wp_config database I find some entries name containing sfsi… With settings that look like default values (found a URL with “example.com” in there).

Thanks and have a nice day!

Unfortunately, as the plugin was deleted, the settings have been lost as well. We also provide an option at the bottom of the plugin’s settings page to export the settings in the plugin in JSON format.
