 * Greetings,
 * I (finally) updated my WP to 3.8.1. Additionally, I just updated my “The Cotton”
   theme from 1.1.4 to 1.2.1. I had a lot of custom coding that a friend helped
   me with to get The Cotton to where I wanted it to be. When I did both of the
   updates, I (not shockingly) found that the custom coding disappeared. I am a
   total coding dolt and I _was_ able to restore my original backup .sql but in
   doing so, it said that I now have to download the new The Cotton theme again.
   My question is this: once I update the theme (again), which (old) files (with
   my custom coding) do I need to transfer back over in order to get the site back
   to where it was before the updates? Does that make sense? Which files “hold the
   coding”?
 * Thanks for your help!

 * This really all depends on which files you edited. If you still have all your
   custom coding (that you did in the theme folder), it’s probably better to use
   the _entire_ “old” theme. To update the theme to the latest version and then
   overwrite some files with older versions again, won’t make things better, really.
 * It’s too late for this now, but in order to avoid situations like this again
   in the future, you should look into using [Child themes](https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes).
   When doing that, you can update themes and everything without running the risk
   of overwriting custom code.

 * Hi there.
 * Thanks for the reply.
 * I was able to restore my backup and for the most part, things are running the
   same with one exception. If you go to ericlendlproductions.com, the home page
   loads very strangely. If you press on the black and white “eric lendl productions”
   logo, the page reloads to the right page. How do I make it load correctly?
 * Thanks.

 * I guess I want to be able to have my own home page, not sure TheCotton Options
   Home page. My one loads correctly.
 * Thanks.

 * I think this may have to do with a known bug in Chrome where custom fonts are
   not properly loading on a page until you refresh or make some other action in
   the page: [https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=336476#c40](https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=336476#c40)

 * Hmmm, I see.
 * Well, is there a way to redirect to a particular page, instead of going through
   the TheCotton how page? How do I code around that?
 * Thanks.
 * Eric
