• I posted on this a week ago and never got it resolved but I have a different idea this time.

The Problem – I accidental deleted via ftp all of my blog files but apparently the db is still there but for some reason when I enter the db & user name (as listed in MySQL), it says the user/db name/password isn’t correct.

A couple of months ago I moved my blog from one server to another. I still have the .sql file on my hard drive. Am I correct in believing that I could use this file, give it a different name from the existing db, and upload it to restore my blog? Would that likely be a good solution to this problem? If so, how do I do this? It’s been a while and I can’t remember exactly how I did it before?

thanks in advance for your help.

  • If you just moved to another server, and have the same domain name, use this guide here.

If you moved to another server, and have a NEW domain name, use this guide here then.

If you need help getting back your database user and pass, have you tried maybe contacting your host for it? Good luck.

/Sidenote: Start backing up ALL of your files from the FTP and even the database, on a regular basis.. k 😉
