 * So what happened to me was that i’m hosting my blog on PowWeb and they’re moving
   all the sites to a new platform. My blog is in Hebrew and after the “migration”
   all the text was full of question marks. So I went to the old “member operations”
   to get a backup from there, and then I logged into the MySQL/phpMyAdmin and tried
   to restore the database. I did everything just like the documentation says, but
   WordPress displays an error message, as you can see here: [http://infectzia.net/frank/](http://infectzia.net/frank/)
 * Now what do I do?

 * _Error establishing a database connection_
 * This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.
   php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at mysql04.powweb.
   com. This could mean your host’s database server is down.
 * * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that
   you have typed the correct hostname? * Are you sure that the database server
   is running?
 * If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host.
   If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.
 * Those?

 * these are questions.
    i don’t really know how to answer this. i think the hostname
   is correct, and there’s no password… you see, i didn’t touch the wordpress files,
   i just deleted and restored the database.

 * no password?
 * You better password protect it right now or anyone can access it. 🙁

 * powweb sql has a password. when it does an install it makes it. he had to put
   a password in when he logged into the phpmyadmin… I’m hosted off powweb myself,
   so I know he has to have a password on the database.
 * Check your ops and the SQL server, to see if they possibly changed SQL servers
   on you too. I’m still slated for migration myself, so I’m not sure if the mysql
   server changes also. But check to make sure that it did not change. If it did,
   you’ll have to tell wordpress what the new mysql server is. I’m sure the username
   and password were probably migrated over if they did change the servers on you.

 * how do i tell wordpress what the new mysql server is? i tried changing the wp-
   config.php file with the new mysql server (like it says in the error message)
   and a new password that i made in the database, but it still doesn’t work.

 * first, was the SQL server different? The post from Yosemite says it’s lookin
   for mysql04. Does ops say it’s on that server?
