# Restoring Database

 * I recently had to switch web hosts, therefore I backed up the database, plug-
   ins, etc… and transferred it all over. Now, the blog is working for all intents
   and purposes, but now I’m trying to restore the previous database and am having
   difficulties.
 * I’m using WP-PhpMyAdmin 2.10.3 and follow the restoring instructions. However
   when I import the database (default settings: utf8 and no SQL compatability mode)
   it gives me the following error:
 * #1044 – Access denied for user ‘spire_wrdp1’@’localhost’ to database ‘mysqlfebc3b2e1241c15971ebf01b2e8’
 * Now, I did rename the text file containing the backup to a more practical name,
   but I’m wondering if the name was not meant to be tampered with (mind you, nothing
   within the file; just the file name itself.) If this is the case, where do I 
   retrieve the original name from? Otherwise, any ideas as to why this is complicating,
   please?

 * It looks as though you don’t have your new database user setup with all the correct
   permissions for your new database. Look over these [instructions](http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress#Step_2:_Create_the_Database_and_a_User)
   and see if you might have missed something.
