Support » Localhost Installs » Restoring an old blog backup locally

I am trying to locally restore an old blog of mine on my mac using MAMP and the backups from back then. The backups include all files, i.e. the whole wordpress site and database backups.

I installed MAMP, created a new database and installed WordPress. I then imported one of the database backups choosing the fresh install as the target.

I then swapped all the content of the fresh installation with the content from the old blog site and changed the database name etc. in the wp-config.php

This was somewhat successful as I can now locally access my old blog site, but in a strange style: it looks as if there is no CSS used, I only see text in blue and empty squares where images should be. When i click one of the links I am being redirected to the expired domain the old blog was using.

Where did I go wrong? If there is an easy enough tutorial somewhere I would be very grateful.

    Thank you very much!
