Support » Fixing WordPress » Restoring a site on new host w/SimpleScripts, SQL dump & wp-uploads directory

  • I had an inelegant loss of a host.

I have the MySQL dump of all the data structures and data. I also have the plugins, theme and wp-content/wp-uploads directory content.

Do I install the domain on the new host with SimpleScripts and then try to import the data using phpMyAdmin?

Or is there a more efficient way?

I’ve see the “how to move a site” documentation, but am wondering if the new host already has SimpleScripts if there is an easier way.

There’s no easier way. How you install WordPress is up to you (although we usually recommend manual installs over 1-click installs) but the database restoration is still the same.

This morning I had to do this also. I took one of my cPanel backups and loaded it through the cPanel file manager. The upload and extraction went without a hitch. I hope the same ease for you.

I used Softulous from the ex-host and the new host has something different.

I’d try uploading the zip and then extracting it.

    Best to you,
    Carver
