Support » Plugin: BackWPup - WordPress Backup Plugin » Restore the restore!- And add steps to PHP directions

  • This is just some feedback after a tough afternoon. I know your product was free- but I’d seen a demo (I suppose it was an older version) with your restore feature. I just assumed that your latest product would come with a restore. Perhaps – for the current version you should put a note to that effect on the wordpress download/plug in notes area

Anyhow- the directions here and elsewhere (and some of your comments on the WP support site) make it seem rather easy to restore simply using the PHP tools on the host control panel.

    Not exactly.

Ok, I had a full backup- so may I suggest you differentiate your terms – database only means the .SQL file (I now know that)

Also Your software creates in in a TAR Wrapped in a GZ- yet the PHP restore looks for a zip by default.

For Windows users, that means finding “7 zip”, uncompressing everything in GZ, everything in Tar, extracting decompressing the sql file, and re compressing in a ZIP file.

THEN the PHP software will accept the

At first, I was trying to send the entire backup- (I’m new- and I thought “database” was the entire backup .gz file you’d made) Perhaps you could call this “SQL data only”

So- please work on adding back in that tools/ restore feature. I like the reliability of your product, and the ease in which it sent the data to my drop box.

In the end, I did get my database and additional files back up and running (better than before). I thank you for that!

But, in the meantime I thought perhaps, for clarity, you could add a few steps (see what I’d written above) in your “how to” web pages.
