    Thanks for the great work on this plugin!
    I’ve used in A LOT and really like it.

    Recently, we made some updates to the image sizes for a large site – with 58k images! We ran the script and found that it didn’t just delete previously generated, incorrectly sized images (based on our update image sizes) it also update the original image file… making it impossible to generate any new image sizes!!

    How can we restore these images and why would it delete the original image size?

    Hello @revive,

    ‘Regenerate Thumbnails’ does not update the size of the original image and always keeps the original image available. Is it possible that you have used another plugin (e.g. like ‘Resize Image After Upload) which updates the original uploaded image?

    @gikaragia Thanks for the reply.
    We don’t have any other image plugins installed on the site. Regenerate Thumbnails is the only image plugin we’ve ever installed.. which is why we’re wondering what happened to the original images (Regenerate Thumbnails has never affected them in the past).
    Is there anyway for Regenerate Thumbnails to delete the original images??

    Hi @revive,

    The Regenerate Thumbnails does not delete any images from your site, the one exception to this is the setting

    Delete thumbnail files for old unregistered sizes in order to free up server space. This may result in broken images in your posts and pages.

    Found in Tools->Regenerate Thumbnails.

    Apart from deleting thumbnail files for old unregistered sizes, the plugin does not delete any of the original images.
