Responsive Theme -Custom home page (with pic,call to action button,etc) Missing

After I install and activate the Responsive theme (and most others) the custom home page fails to load properly. We all know what the home page is suppose to look like upon loading, but if you will see hickoryhumanist.org, you will see my problem. I have done nothing but change the background color! Help!
