• Hi, I’m customizing my site based on Astra theme with a child theme. I’ve got the desktop looking basically how I want it, but it will need some adjustments for mobile.

What is the best practice to incorporate responsive design for Astra? Do I just put my @media queries in the style.css for the child theme? I want to make sure what I’m adding isn’t conflicting with the built-in Astra features.

If this is answered somewhere feel free to just send the link, I searched but couldn’t find a support document or something similar that directly addresses the question.

  • Hi @ohnoezmahblog,

Astra is a fully responsive theme that will work well not only on Desktop but also on tablet and mobile devices. You don’t need to deal with anything to make your site responsive.

Please share screenshots showing us the issue for a better understanding. If you can provide us the live site URL that contains the issue, that would be much better.

    Kind regards,
    Herman 🙂

Thanks for the response, it’s just custom CSS. Like for example I have a <div> set to 75% width, but when the screen size gets too narrow I’ll want it to resize to 100% width.

I can see that the Astra theme is doing stuff to make the site responsive e.g. with the header, is there a best practice or documentation anywhere of what Astra is doing so that I don’t make any conflicting changes?

For starters, what are the pixel width breakpoints where Astra does stuff, and what does it do at those breakpoints?
