[Resolved] "resource" use by LSS

  • Hi, my WP site has been getting temporary shutdowns by DreamHost because something is triggering their “Process Watcher” that monitors shared memory resources for the server. Is LSS “resource intensive,” say, on a day when I’m hit with 3000 login attempts?
From what I can tell your plugin is working but I’m trying to determine if it’s causing problems with memory. Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere.

    Hi:

Sorry DreamHost is nailing you. What in particular are they saying is beeing overutilized?

    Dreamhost’s reply was vague:

I looked into the cause of your issue
and it seems your scripts have been getting automatically killed by our
Process Watcher script due to your sites going over the resource limits
    on the shared server.

They take a blame-the-victim stance and wouldn’t answer my question of which plugin might be causing the spikes. My site is a mom and pop operation (me) so I turned off LSS and switched to a simpler plugin that just [omitted for security reasons]. The service interruptions stopped.

It’s probably due to the long script run times LSS produces to slow down the attackers. Oh well.

FYI, the time frames are adjustable in the plugin’s settings page, if you want.
